    Roger Zampell
    Senior Vice President, Development
    Roger directs the company’s domestic development efforts. He identifies and executes new real estate development opportunities with a focus on mixed-use development of hotel, office, residential, and retail centers. Since 1983, he has been responsible for the programming, design, construction and development of multiple domestic and international Portman Holdings projects. He directed Portman’s efforts in being selected as developer for two significant public/private projects, the Westin Charlotte Convention Center Hotel and the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. Roger holds a B.S. degree in architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology, a Master’s degree in architecture from the University of Colorado, and an MBA from Emory University. Roger is a member of Urban Land Institute and is also a licensed architect in Georgia and California.

    Jeffrey Warwick
    Managing Director
    Jeff leads all aspects of the company’s domestic acquisitions platform. Working closely with development, asset management, and capital teams, he is responsible for sourcing and executing new deals across target markets. Jeff also works with Portman Holdings’ international offices in capital raising. He has more than 26 years of experience in commercial real estate and financial services and has originated, structured, and closed over $50 billion in debt capital across North America. Before joining Portman Holdings, Jeff was Region Executive, Commercial Real Estate with Bank of America Merrill Lynch, where he led the Mid-South commercial real estate lending business. Previously, he was Managing Director, National Structured Real Estate with Fleet/Bank of Boston. Through numerous IPOs and corporate real estate acquisitions, Jeff has served as trusted capital markets advisor to the CEOs/CFOs of well-known public and private companies. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in real estate from Georgia State University and currently serves as Board Trustee for the GSU Foundation and several industry associations. Jeff holds Series 24/7/63 securities licenses.

    Neal Kamin
    General Counsel
    Neal provides a wide range of legal advice and strategy support to the Portman development team. During his tenure with Portman he has been responsible for closing the acquisition, development and financing of real estate having a value in excess of several billion dollars. His additional responsibilities include the legal services required in connection with the ownership, management and operation of the properties owned and managed by Portman Holdings. Neal has been with the company for 22 years and has served as General Counsel for 19 years. Before joining Portman Holdings, he was on the legal staff of Life of Georgia overseeing their real estate investments, and was an associate with Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy in Atlanta. He received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Michigan.

    John C. Portman, IV
    Vice President, Capital Markets
    John is responsible for Portman Holdings’ real estate fund and capital raising initiatives. He focuses on both equity and debt sources, and is responsible for growing investor relationships, and assisting on the underwriting and structuring of Portman Holdings’ investments around the world. He also contributes to development and investment projects in India. John first joined Portman Holdings in 2003, when he worked as an analyst on domestic developments. He left the company to work with KPMG’s Corporate Finance Group in Mumbai, focusing on mergers and acquisitions as well as raising equity and performing valuation assessments in real estate, aviation and FMCG industries. He returned to Portman Holdings in 2009. John is a member of Urban Land Institute’s Young Leaders Group and is a board member of the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District. He graduated cum laude from Harvard College, and earned a Master’s degree with honors from Cardiff University, United Kingdom. John also earned a Master’s in Business Administration with a Concentration in Finance from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.

    Charles Pinkham, III
    Vice President, Development
    Charles specializes in sourcing, conceptualizing, analyzing and structuring investment opportunities across the United States. His focus is on both domestic development and value-add acquisitions. Previously, Charles worked in Portman’s Shanghai office as the development finance manager. Before joining Portman Holdings, he worked with WestWind Capital Partners on the asset management team managing a trophy office and Class A retail portfolio valued at approximately $2.5 billion. Charles was also previously employed by Eads & Heald Investment Counsel as an equity analyst with a focus on the energy sector, where he had trade execution responsibilities for more than 100 portfolios. Charles graduated Cum Laude with a B.B.A. degree in finance from the University of Georgia.

    Brett Oliver
    Vice President, Development
    Brett sources and analyzes acquisition, development, and investment opportunities in order to grow Portman Holdings’ business across the United States. He also develops relationships with capital sources and JV partners for new projects. Brett joined Portman Holdings in 2006 and was the development manager of the 865,000 SF, $185MM expansion to AmericasMart, where he oversaw the overall development budget, schedule, and project team. He then took a sabbatical to acquire his MBA with a concentration in real estate finance at the University of Texas at Austin. Before returning to Portman Holdings in 2011, Brett gained loan workout and asset management experience with a boutique consulting firm charged with the restructuring and liquidation of a real estate lending fund’s nonperforming loan portfolio. Brett began his career with Holder Construction Company as a member of Holder’s preconstruction department. Brett holds a degree in Building Construction from Auburn University and an MBA from the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin, and is a member of the Urban Land Institute’s Young Leaders.

    Carey Owens
    Senior Director, Asset Management
    Carey provides asset management, operating analysis, project management, and owner's representation for the company’s real estate portfolio. He also focuses on financial structuring, due diligence, underwriting, and project feasibility analysis for the company's international and domestic developments and acquisitions. Before joining Portman Holdings, Carey interned at ACG Professionals, Inc. where he analyzed and modeled multiple office and retail portfolios valued in excess of $30 billion, as well as performed discrepancy analysis, reviewed leases, and validated financial data. Before receiving his MBA, Carey was the director of product management for Firstdoor, Inc., a technology start-up, overseeing the design, development and marketing of the company's product offerings. Carey has a B.S. degree in Business Administration from Washington and Lee University, and an MBA with a concentration in real estate and leadership from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University. He is a licensed real estate salesperson and a member of the Urban Land Institute's Young Leaders Group.

    Nancy Christensen
    Vice President and Controller
    Nancy manages all accounting and financial reporting functions for Portman’s portfolio of commercial real estate investments and operating entities and oversees all corporate tax, accounting and financial functions. She has more than 30 years of real estate accounting, financial management, leasing, and property management experience. Before joining Portman Holdings, Nancy was Controller for Abrams Properties, Cannon Companies, RREEF, and CGR Advisors. Previous to this, Nancy practiced 13 years as a Certified Public Accountant. Nancy earned a B.B.A. in Accounting from the University of Iowa. She is licensed as a CPA in the state of Georgia.

    Simon Bailey
    Chief Information Officer
    Simon is responsible for the strategic planning, implementation and operations of the company’s technology infrastructure. By analyzing current business practices and tools and adapting them to reflect an ever-changing technical landscape, Simon keeps the Portman companies at the forefront of new technology. Simon has been with Portman Holdings since 1982 and as the company has grown internationally, he has overseen the expansion of information technology to the Shanghai, Seoul and Mumbai offices. Simon earned an undergraduate degree in civil engineering in 1980 and a Master’s degree in structural engineering in 1982, both from Georgia Tech.

    Valerie Holmes
    Director of Human Resources
    Valerie is responsible for leading the development, direction, and execution of the Human Resources function for a number of Portman Companies – Portman Holdings, John Portman and Associates, Portman Management Company and Atlanta Decorative Arts Center. Throughout her career, Valerie has been responsible for developing solid human resources programs in rapidly growing companies. She has more than 15 years of Human Resources experience, having held several senior leadership and business partner positions with TriMont Real Estate Advisors, Cypress Communications and Charles Schwab. Valerie earned a Bachelor of Science in Public and Urban Affairs with a concentration in Human Resources from Georgia State University. She holds the Professional in Human Resources (PHR) designation from the Human Resources Certification Institute.

    Nancy Dungan
    General Manager, SunTrust Plaza
    Nancy is responsible for the property management of the SunTrust Plaza complex, a 2 million square foot office development in downtown Atlanta. She is also the qualified broker for Portman Management Company, a division of Portman Holdings. Nancy has over 27 years of experience in management and marketing of office, retail and mixed-use properties. Before joining Portman Holdings, she worked for several real estate companies including Trammell Crow, General Growth, Carter & Associates, The L&B Group and the Rouse Company. She graduated cum laude from Georgia State University with a BA in Journalism. She holds the Building Owners & Management Institute’s Real Property Administrator designation, as well as the Certified Property Manager designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management. In 2012, she will serve as the Program Chair for IREM’s Georgia Chapter.
