Ambrish Baisiwala

Ambrish brings over 32 years of international real estate expertise to his role at Portman, where he oversees the firm’s corporate management and real estate investment. His extensive global experience and diverse professional background equip him with a strong foundation in corporate strategy and property development, which he applies to drive Portman’s success. Since becoming CEO in 2010, Ambrish has strategically repositioned the firm to focus on the U.S. domestic market. Under his leadership, the company has broadened its scope from office and hospitality ground-up development to include life sciences, multifamily, student housing, hospitality, logistics, and retail, each led by a dedicated sector leader. Additionally, the firm has expanded its capabilities beyond ground-up development to include the acquisition and repositioning of existing assets.
Before joining Portman, Ambrish served as Development Director at Aldar Properties PJSC in Abu Dhabi, UAE, managing a development portfolio exceeding $20 billion. Earlier in his career, he worked as Development Manager for the Greater Union Organization across the Middle East and India. He also held senior roles with Coopers & Lybrand Consulting and the Tata Group. Throughout his career, Ambrish has worked in the U.S., India, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and Australia, gaining broad experience across various property types and responsibilities.
Ambrish holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) degree from the University of Rajasthan, India, and an MBA from the Melbourne Business School, Australia. He is the Chairman of both Portman Residential, LLC and Portman Industrial, LLC, and is a member of the board of the Portman Foundation. He also serves as the Head of the Portman Investment Committee. Additionally, Ambrish is deeply engaged in the Atlanta community, contributing to the boards of the Rowen Foundation, Atlanta Police Foundation (Emeritus) , the Central Atlanta Progress Executive Committee, the Georgia Tech – College of Design Advisory Board, Metro Atlanta Chamber’s Board of Directors, and the Midtown Alliance Executive Committee. He is also an active member of the Buckhead Coalition and the Rotary Club of Atlanta.
