Portman Holdings developed the Westin Bonaventure in partnership with Mitsubishi and Ehrenkranz Ehrenkranz & Schultz to initiate urban renewal in the Bunker Hill Section of Los Angeles, under a plan created by the Los Angeles city government. It opened in 1977, and since then its architecture and downtown location have made it one of the most photographed buildings in the world.
