Portman Holdings developed Shanghai Centre, which opened in 1990, to serve the international business community in China. It was the first mixed-use complex in Shanghai, composed of three towers and a seven-story podium. Portman Holdings partnered with AIG and Kajima Corporation to develop this project – the first foreign development in China after the country’s market opened up in the 1980s.
