Hyatt Regency’s original 800-room building opened in 1967 and began Hyatt’s transition from a motel company into a global hotel brand. Two adjoining towers were later developed to add 550 rooms. Portman Holdings partnered with Trammell Crow to develop both phases. A recipient of the American Institute of Architects’ Honor Award for its acclaimed architecture, the hotel is widely recognized as introducing the atrium concept to contemporary hotel design. It is located in downtown Atlanta, near convention and trade show facilities, retail, and restaurants.
