Portman Holdings developed this convention center hotel in a public-private partnership with the Port Authority of San Diego and Phelps Development, along with Hilton and ING Clarion. It opened in December of 2008 as the largest privately financed and owned convention center hotel operating in the United States, and was selected as one of Real Estate Forum’s “Deals of the Year” in 2006. The hotel is located on the San Diego Bay, adjacent to the Gas Lamp District, Convention Center, and PETCO Park.
