Michael Portman
Executive Vice President

As executive vice president, Michael is responsible for new business development for the Portman organization of companies.

Michael began his career in property management, first as building manager and later as general manager of Peachtree Center, a 18.9 million square foot mixed-use development in Downtown Atlanta. He then joined Portman Development, with responsibility for new business development, before taking a leave of absence to devote himself solely to the pursuit of architectural photography. For 18 years he captured the beauty and grandeur of architectural landmarks designed by John Portman and Associates and developed by Portman Holdings as the lead photographer for the companies. Michael has also photographed work by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, LLP, Antoine Predock, and the European Landscape Architecture Network, in addition to many other notable architecture firms.

Michael studied architecture at the University of Tennessee and industrial management at Georgia Tech. He received a bachelor of arts in business administration from Georgia State University. He is a member of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the Aperture Foundation.
